The precursor to SlamNation, the television pilot Slammin’ introduced the world to the edgy sport of the spoken word, capturing the fiery energy of a poetry slam held at New York City’s renowned Nuyorican Poets Café.


Evert Eden, Everton Sylvester, David Mills and Susan Ross perform and compete, facing tough judges in a semi-final round. Narrated by slam grandmaster Bob Holman, this ground-breaking program was broadcast on New York City's local PBS station WNET as part of the series New York Theater Review,  earning two New York Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Fine Arts Programming and Outstanding Cultural Programming.
