Power Trip tells the story of corruption, assassination and street rioting over electricity in the former Soviet Republic of Georgia AES Corp., the massive American “global power company,” has purchased the privatized electricity distribution company in the capital city of Tbilisi. Culture clash, electricity disconnections and blackouts lead to hot tempers and high drama. 


AES manager Piers Lewis must balance his love for the Georgian people with the hardships his company creates for them, as they struggle to build a nation from the rubble of Soviet collapse.


Power Trip was broadcast in over 60 countries, won 10 film festival awards (including top honors at Berlin and Hot Docs), inspired special events at the U.S. State Department, World Bank, and Council on Foreign Relations, and was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award.
