Paul produced, directed and edited The Front Man, which premiered at the Cinequest Film Festival, and is distributed by The Orchard: 

"I shot The Front Man over a period of ten years or so. It was a lot of fun collecting random comedic episodes in the life of my good friends Jim and Christie. We had no clear idea where it would lead, but along the way, we captured a few must-see, hilarious stand-alone moments. Finding an audience for these became my primary motivation. Transforming them into a coherent feature-length narrative, however, evolved into one of my toughest editing challenges. It took several years. 

When that hard work was completed, and it was time to cut a trailer to promote the project, I turned out to be the least qualified. All my attempts fell flat; I was way too close to material. My priorities were misplaced, based on my experience in the edit, not on the best way to entice an audience to watch the movie. 

Luckily, along the way I encountered a young hot shot editor who was looking to start a new company focused on creating movie trailers. He needed a project to get up and running, and I needed help. I handed over the material and gave him a bunch of initial instructions. He ignored them all. 

As you can see from the results here, the best editing decision I made in this case, was to edit myself out of the process!"
