During the COVID year, CBS Sports successfully transitioned to remote editing. While I now often work remotely on NFL broadcasts, including the Super Bowl, March Madness requires on-site support at the Broadcast Center in Manhattan. 

That's because the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament demands rapid turnaround, with the edit room responding in real time to the control room. Succcessfully managing an endless stream of high-pressure situations is the behind-the-scenes story of every live sports broadcast, but especially March Madness. 

Back in the day when we worked on videotape and the process was slower, we would often go live straight from the edit room. Sometimes, the control room was counting down to air while I was still rewinding the tape! Talk about stressful! As an editor, you learn quickly how to stay focused while everyone around you is panicking."
