PRODUCER, DIRECTOR, EDITOR
CBS Sports
U.S. Open Tennis Preview Show
A rare privilege - the opportunity to craft an entire half-hour of network television.
For many years Paul worked with CBS Sports on-site at the U.S. Open Tennis in Flushing Meadows, NY:
"This is a really fun event, right in our home town. If this had been a remote gig there would have been a scheduled shuttle bus service from the hotel to the facility. But for the U.S. Open, a car service brought me to and from my apartment in Manhattan to the National Tennis Center in Flushing each day. Felt very special, back before Uber was everywhere.
On site, my responsibilities included editing highlights, bumpers, promos, and features all across the broadcast. I also turned around the Arthur Ashe Kids Day show.
But the most rewarding part of the job was editing the U.S. Open Preview Show, a sample of which is shown here. Love the energy in this piece and the NYC flavor. Collaborating closely with a producer, in this case Jim Cornell, I would shape the entire program from start to finish — a full-half hour of network television all our own."
